Bosch GTS1031 10-Inch Portable Jobsite Table Saw

Top Ten Best Bench Saw Reviews

While testing this best bench saw category I found it interesting and fun, as I was amalgamating all the data and tests, it was apparent that this portable jobsite table saw was way out in front, very early on into the testing.

In the Bosch GTS1031 table saw review, testing the 4 HP motor was an absolute pleasure. The durability and stability, is an enormous contributing factor, producing remarkable results, with a powerful 4.0 HP motor I was able to rip down a 3 foot long 2 X 4 like a hot knife through butter, along with its other features it was a sheer pleasure to test out.

The Bosch has an exception ripping capacity of 18 inches, making this perfect for cutting any sheet material especially 3/4 inch plywood, and other large sheets. This fantastic motor has the capability to run at 5000 RPM, and it makes cutting through materials such as plywood, baseboards, block board, shingles, wood flooring, seasoned hardwoods, and pressure-treated lumber.

The sturdy base has been fabricated out of all steel tubing, and enables you to carry it single-handed, and is perfectly balanced. The ultra-light base comes with fitted rubber feet, which gives it greater stability, when in use.

Under the saw table, you can stow the SquareLock rip fence, Smart Guard System, miter gauge, push stick and wrenches all under the table for protection, which is great when you are transporting or want to store the saw table away.

The Bosch GTS1031 on-site, 10-inch blade table saw is engineered to produce maximum accuracy through every type of cut. The fence guide of the unit move freely with ease, and locks the place, using a quick-snap lever.

The new SquareLock Rip Fence is designed to decrease waste by increasing the cutting accuracy and maximizing output reducing lumber waste. It has an auxiliary fence slots and a T-slot miter gauge; this fence is the most accurate that I have tested out, and got outstanding results.

This will enable you to easily glide it along the rail single-handed, and then simply lock into position. Pinching of your material when cutting is now eliminated when the riving knife is fitted and has multiple positions.

The blade adjustments, ranges from -2 to 47 degrees, for a full range of applications. It is able to cut lumber to depths of 3-1/8 inches, set at 90 degrees.

The Bosh table saw is fitted with a 2 ” inch dust collecting port system that will fit onto most garage vacuums or a dedicated dust collection system.

Our final verdict on the Bosch GTS1031 table saw.
I found its cutting accuracy was totally superb and was accurate down to .3 of a millimeter, being a little heavy than other bench saws, coming out at 64.8 pounds, I personally found that the extra weight gave the saw bench more stability over the other that I have tested. I also found it to have a better build quality.

As an amateur beekeeper, the first thing that I noticed was that the saw is able to take a 10 inch Dado blade, which for me is just another perfect advantage. As I use the Dado blade to rabbit the side of my beehives and the honey frame rest.

My initial setting up of the saw bench was straightforward with no glitches. The manufacturer has supplied a saw bench that was setup perfectly. All settings were at zero degrees, its 10-inch blade remained parallel, and miter gauge was perfectly square to the saw’s blade. It is supplied with an owner’s manual and was easy to read and understand.

Reasons Why I Can Personally Recommend It.

  • Motor. 4 HP producing 5000 RPM
  • Fence. Easy to use with great accuracy.
  • Metal Base. Well designed base, with soft grip for carrying that, will stow away in any van, truck or car trunk.
  • Guards. Sometimes these are overlooked, but I noticed there was a great amount of design that went into them, these are just as important as the saw itself, you can never have too much safety protection. The Smart Guard System which was quick easy to use has also featured an anti-kickback pawls system.
  • Blades. Take most manufactures blades.
  • Warranty. 1 Year Limited Warranty with a 30-day money back offer.

I found this to be a perfect saw, the power was great, excellent value for money. This is one of the 10 saw I will keep for my own workshop.

If you are looking for a good domestic grade table saw with folding stand, you are at it. This is not a contractor’s saw bench, more for a seasoned user, who wants a good all-rounder. In this review, I will walk you through what I thought of the Skil 3410-02 table saw in a nutshell.

Ample motor power, standard 10-inch blade, with a maximum cutting height of 3-1/2 inches at 90 degrees and at 45 degrees you get a cutting height of 2-1/2 inches, the motor will rotate at 5000 RPM. It is supplied with an extending table which goes up to 20 x 32 inches, un-extended it is 20 X 26 inches ample for most jobs around the workshop or home.

Comes complete with a medium duty folding stand. What I like on this saw was its Ez view measuring, making it simple to adjust the fence, to the desired setting. Which is equipped with a self-alignment fence system. This enables you to achieve very accurate cutting, this is partly due to its weight, as this helps stabilize the saw when cutting sheet material.

You will have peace of mind if you purchase this saw bench, as it comes with a 30-day money guarantee, and a wonderful 3-year limited warranty, when you register the warranty online, I do not think there is a better warranty about, unless you pay almost twice as much with a different saw.

One thing that did surprise me was I was able to fit a Dado saw blade on it, which performed a well as the more expensive models in my top 5 reviews.

This would make a good investment, so if you are a hobbyist or just renovating your home, this would do you just fine. You will not be disappointing with this choice. If after you purchase this saw and think it’s not what you hoped for, just simply return it.

Ryobi RTS10G 10 Inch Portable Jobsite Table Saw

Top Ten Best Bench Saw Reviews

Testing and reviewing this table saw was a bit of a challenge, I think because it was almost last on my testing list, despite this being a little flimsy in build quality, I did think that it deserved a position in my top 5 reviews, for one simple reason, cost. It cut perfectly well and did the job it is supposed to do, and taking into account you can spend $25 on a Stanley Hand Saw this Ryobi Bench Saw would do the job, if you are remodeling your home and on a tight budget. I have listed the features below
Features:

Ryobi has fitted a 15-Amp motor which will deliver up to 5,000 RPM.Supplied with a 10 in. blade.
Expanded rip capability’s and has 12 inches of space to the right of the blade and 8 inches. to the left, a little bit on the small size, but adequate.
Fully adjustable miter gauge for cross-cutting accurately.
Lightweight and easy to move around as you go from job to job.
Large table bed 25  x 17 in. Again could be a little bigger.
The height of the saw from the floor to the top of the table 35.25 inches, which is the ideal height to make cutting easy.

If you are looking for a hobbyist table saw, and do not plan to use it every day of the year. There is no better saw to buy. The choice will be yours do you buy a saw that will fit the job, or spend almost double the money and buy something that will last you a lifetime.

If you are working on a tight budget and have more tools to buy to finish your remodeling, then you will not go wrong with this table saw. Ryobi is a household name, and when I was in the tool department at Home Depot, I sold countless Ryobi tools, while I worked a Home Depot we never had much of an issue with them, and as a household name, they do have a huge range of power tools.

Purchase this unit you get the table saw, a lightweight stand, the 24T carbide tipped blade, hexagon key, the blade guard assembly, plastic push stick, rip fence, blade wrenches, and the anti-kickback pawls. Together with an easy to understand instruction manual.

Reasons Why I Can Personally Recommend It

  • Motor. 5000 RPM motor
  • Stand. lightweight stand, which makes it more maneuverable.
  • Tools. All the tools needed to change blades, assemble the bench saw, and the tools to make any necessary fine adjustments.
  • Torque. Has a reasonable torque to the motor, sufficient for remolding projects.

A perfect saw if you are on a budget. Price includes a stand

PROS
Easy to move, super value for money

CONS
Not supplied with the greatest saw blade, and if you are cutting baseboard or decorative boards, I would recommend on replacing the blade, but if you are using it for 2 x 4’s for framing its is fine. My recommendation would be to buy a good blade 60-80 tooth

Other Considerations

  • I did not try and fit a Dado blade on this table saw, as it takes more cutting power, but all blade Arbor’s of 5/8″ will take a suitable Dado blade.

Makita 2705 10-Inch Contractor Table Saw

Top Ten Best Bench Saw Reviews

As woodworking is my passion, I was in my glory being able to test and review the Makita 2705 10-Inch Contractor Table Saw, this is the ultimate table saw, giving you professional standards in all your woodworking projects, this is a desirable contractors choice, it is solidly built and has superb power and accuracy.

So today, I am looking at the Makita 27o5.  Makita has over 100 years of tool manufacturing, and are renowned for their reputation of quality, and innovation. Their tools that are used around the globe by professionals and hobbyist the world over.

Makita has 2 versions, first is the 2705 and the other the 2705X1. They are exactly the same saw, except the X1 package comes with Makita’s very cool folding stand system I will get to this a bit later on.

Weighing in at 65-1/2 lbs the Makita 2705 is just a little heavier than some other saws in this category. The extra weight is a bonus for the professional, who is working at full pace, as it aids the stability of the saw bench, when cutting full-size sheets, with a table size  24-4/8″ x 22-1/4″  and you get a right hand table extension table, which gives you a massive ripping cut of 25″ which means you can rip 8 x 4 sheets down to any size you desire,

The table top is machined to produce an accurate flat work table, unlike some of the cast iron table tops that are manufactured by other companies.

Powered by impressive 15 amp motor which runs at 4800 RPM. One of the features that I observed is its electronic brake, safety is paramount, and this will give you peace of mind to know that Mikita put safety at the top of their agenda.

Now I love a saw that can take a dado blade This saw can accept 6 – 13/16″ dado blade, which unheard of on a saw of this size. This feature will allow you to cut finger joint, Tennon’s, and half lap joint and various other cuts. I mentioned in another review that I am an amateur beekeeper, and this is a must for me, to build my own beehives which would be almost impossible to make without a dado blade.

The bench saw will make ripping down thick stock a breeze. Makita has paid real attention when designing this saw and paid special attention to the motor they have fitted on this unit.

Blade & Riving Knife
With a tool-less blade guard system, and the 3 position riving knife/spreader can be set at three different positions for through, non-through, and dado cuts, and the throttle plate does not have to be removed.

The Makita 2705 is supplied with a 32 T carbide blade. This blade is more than plenty for most jobs but can be replaced with an aftermarket blade, a little thinner, which enhances the cutting and makes it quicker to cut through thick stock, I would personally recommend using a Freud 10 In. 50 Tooth Combination Saw Blade.

The fence feels like it should, smooth to adjust, and solid, just as you would expect from Makita. The T slots have been made to precision, with no slack in them.

Conclusions
Being about 14 pounds heavier than most saws, I think this is a great asset, I ripped down a 3/4 inch 8 x 4 sheet of plywood which is a heavy sheet, and the table stayed put. And it had a really amazing rip capacity; this is down to the power of the motor. For me, it ticked all the boxes like it should have done.

The Makita 2705 10-Inch Contractor Table Saw is workbench model, but you can purchase a dedicated stand. I tested it with the stand, and it performed very well indeed, but make sure that you lock the wheels in position so that no movement takes place.

Reasons Why I Can Personally Recommend It

  • Motor.  Strong 5 HP, running at 4800 RPM
  • Lightweight and Compact. Easy to carry, but you have the option to have a portable stand
  • Blade. Can take a dado blade, and scorers.

VERDICT
Makita, I consider to be the crème de la crème of table saws.

PROS
Can take a dado blade and scorers.

CONS
Doesn’t come with a stand, but can be purchased with the Makita saw below.

Other Considerations

  • Warranty.  3-year limited warranty.
